This application was created to address the issue with utilizing an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of computers to small accessories. The dependent issues of using the Excel spreadsheet were there were numerous data mismatch between columns and records, time consuming tasks to add or assign users the assets by hand, and simply no way of logging maintenance notes for each item owned by ND SEEC.
Solution
A solution was created that reduced the time, cost, and increased productivity of managing IT equipment efficiently within the Appsheet application. The personnel can track the assets and log notes from mobile devices to desktop computers to ensure that the assets have up-to-date information of activities throughout the company. The assets have scannable QR codes that automatically generates after each entry into the inventory system. The QR code are generated after each update and addition of assets into the system. The QR code generated within the application can be printed out and be put on assets 10x less than having to use a third-party label editor to manually label and add it to the assets.

Capabilities:
- Ability to add new assets through the New Asset Applet program.
- Ability to to view and search for assets using the QR code feature.
- Ability to create, edit, and delete users from the database.
- Ability to create, edit, and associate assets to storage areas within various locations.
- Ability to review assets diversity across the company through the inventory dashboard.
- Ability to make quick edits to users and assets on the fly.
Development
The solution took a month to plan, design, test, and deployed to the company. This application ensured that the business process was streamlined without having the need to use the Excel Spreadsheet for managing IT equipment with greatly reduced cost, time, and inefficiencies of managing equipment throughout the company. The method used was Agile methodology as new features and ideas comes into play.
Conclusions
This was first business project that was worked on that utilized Appsheet’s database, scripting, and Appsheet’s web-based integrated development environment (IDE) using low-code methodologies and Agile development best-practices.
